Graham Edwards looked up our website and sent me this article.
Hello All,
I have just been looking at your improvements and web details. I was a good pal of
Vic Riley - went to funeral etc but no mention of the ladies from Englefield
Green **[see footnote]** College the venue of Vic's last night, I am almost sure.
Being 1951 intake and a craft/do apprentice in a block the age of engineers/students of
1953 was similar to the craft apps. of 1951 and hence our association with
the mad but inspiring men of 1953.
Just to say that Vic's last night was spent at Ascot at Diana's house. She
was a student at Chichester and the girlfriend of Allan Cuthbertson at that
time. They married eventually and lived in Glasgow.
I have wonderful underwear[female]
memories of Chichester Ladies college and being one of very few who trusted
Richie's [Neeve] motorbike driving skills and appreciating the late Mr. Ellis's
foolhardy love life in which he thought by nicking vast quantities of her
fellow students undergarments, he could then wake her with a kiss of
sufficient affection so as not to expect her to scream the place down. As the
only person to be named [out of a biggish group] in the police report to
Graf. Clarke the Personnel Manager at RAE with gorgeous daughter … I remember it
well!!
Terry Kimber married one of the German Ladies
(was that Isolde? M-R) and lives in Bedford [ex-directory so not spoken to him].
One of the other German ladies [Juta Thaler from Pforzheim married Herr Mannsport
and now resides in a village just outside Pforzheim]. Forbes- Harris ex-BOAC pilot
lives in Beer, Devon and Bob Hastings, Henry Galley, Len Jackson, Mike Alexander,
Chris Rowe, Baz.Rye, Bell etc seem to be lost.
Regards
