Don Campbell Don Campbell

In Jan 98 we went on a great trip to New Zealand and on our return Don began a series of hospital visits ending with the news he had Motor Neuron Disease. Nothing became him more than the manner in which he handled the illness. He was detennined to enjoy every day and how we partied! Mind you it didn't stop the project manager in him and he drove hard bargains with wheelchair salesmen, and Renault cars who eventually provided a neat adapted Scenic. As to the Social workers, Occupational Therapists et al, they had to work hard to keep up with him but they seemed to think it was worth it. His last achievement was to persuade the local hospice to install overhead hoists though he did not live to see them installed.

Don died on the 28th March 2001 and his passing was celebrated with music, song and dance - just the way he would have wished.
